Sub-Project 6 Faculty Drive Robotics Education and Systematically Cultivate AI and Intelligent Robotics Talent

The faculty of Sub-Project 6 at the Center for Intelligent Translational Research (CITR), National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), are actively engaged in robotics education and outreach. Through curriculum design, cross-institutional collaboration, and national promotion activities, they systematically cultivate the next generation of intelligent robotics and AI professionals.

Assoc. Prof. Yi-Ting Chen: TAICA Convener and Cross-Institutional Curriculum Collaborator


Assoc. Prof. Yi-Ting Chen serves as the convener of the Committee of the Taiwan AI Curriculum Alliance (TAICA) at NYCU, teaching the course "Physical AI" on campus. He also participates in the cross-institutional co-taught course "Robot Navigation and Exploration," pooling resources across multiple universities to build a systematic talent development pathway in intelligent robotics.

Prof. Gu-Yang Yang: A Driving Force Behind the Robotics Program


Prof. Gu-Yang Yang is a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Institute of Electrical Control Engineering at NYCU. Having previously served as department chair, associate dean of the College of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and director of the Master's Program in Robotics, he has made lasting contributions to building and deepening NYCU's robotics education framework.

Three Faculty Members Guide the Robotics Program Across Disciplines


Three faculty members from Sub-Project 6 are involved in guiding the Robotics Master's Program, offering a wide range of interdisciplinary courses including "Bio-inspired Soft Robotics," "Image Analysis and Applications," "MEMS Devices and Systems," and "UAV Practice." These courses equip students with a complete knowledge structure spanning hardware sensing to system integration.

Reaching Beyond Campus: FunAI Camp and National Outreach


The Sub-Project 6 team has long participated in national cross-institutional activities such as the FunAI Camp, dedicated to promoting AI education and inspiring young students' interest and hands-on capabilities in artificial intelligence and robotics — extending the university's research impact to high schools and communities.
